Czajak got an ‘F’ with the words “get a tutor” on his college writing paper and
after that, never thought he’d become a writer. But after spending twenty years
as a chemist, he knew his creativity could no longer be contained. His recently
published picture book, Monster Needs a Costume through Scarletta Kids, is the
first in the series titled Monster & Me. The second title, Monster Needs
his Sleep, is due out in April 2014.

Highest bid before the end of the auction wins.
* A note about last-minute bidding:
If you are used to online auctions that end at an exact, given second, please
know that the KidLitPhil auctions don’t work quite that way. Each auction ends
when I post the “Auction closed” comment. I do that when my computer turns to
10pm EST, but because I have multiple auctions to close at that time (also
because I am human) it will not be precisely at 10pm EST. At any rate, the
winning bid is the high bid before the Auction Closed comment, even if the time
on your computer reads slightly after 10:00. Thanks for understanding!
Winning bidder must donate the winning bid amount to a designated charity
organization and provide a copy of the receipt within three days of
For physical items, unless otherwise noted, donor pays standard shipping within
the U.S.; winning bidder pays for express shipping or for shipping outside the

Finished up my first #NCTE signing @charlesbridgepublishing booth a little while ago. Met some lovely educators. Even though I’m not in the classroom any more, and I now have my “writer’s tribe,” I will always think of teachers as my tribe. Teaching is in my blood. #NCTE18
Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie wows the crowd at #NCTE18 “What we think of as classic books is too limited. Dangerously limited.” #truth
I’m looking forward to serving on a panel with these fabulous ladies at #NCTE18 on Friday. Will I see you there?

Please do your civic duty and vote, too. Don’t let early projections make you think it doesn’t matter. Don’t let rain or storms keep you home. Please get to the polls. #gotv
When too many holds arrive at the library at the same time... must read faster. #tbr
Seen on my walk this afternoon. Autumn is here, even though it’s currently 69 degrees F.

Last night @lindsaymoorestudio tweeted this photo of her kiddo heading out for Halloween. She said “Flying Deep is a very big deal in our house.” I’m not gonna lie, that made me tear up.
That is the highest compliment I could ask for: a kid is so excited about my book that he was inspired to make a Halloween costume.
@woodshole_ocean... I think this kid will be heading your way in the not too distant future. #STEM #STEAM #thepowerofbooks
.@christinetaylorbutler did a load of research and number crunching. Her results proved what we already felt. Please listen to the podcast.
